Film review: The Wrestler

Howz'it?! Ever here, 2:30 in the morning, and bored. Felt like typing a review of the movie: "The Wrestler" before i knock out. Here we go.

A touching, tragic, and a film i believe anyone can enjoy. Before seeing this critically-acclaimed film, keep in mind that it was originally an independent film, therefore being relatively low-budget, and is shot with a hand-held camera. Although i feel that it adds to the realism of the characters and action sequences, but the shakiness can be annoying to some of yous. Mickey Rourke's performance is compelling and most brilliant, and his supporting casts, especially the hot 40 year old Marisa Tomei, is unflinching and genuine as the over the hill stripper, and Evan Rachel Wood was a great angry, bitter, distant daughter. The movie was quite gripping from start to finish, and is tightly packed with humor, tenderness, and tragedy. Although it's about an aging wrestler and contains a few gritty wrestling matches and revealing back-stage scenes, the heart of the film is the human condition and the games we play in our relationships and in our minds. Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Rourke) is flawed yet tender, pathetic yet genuine. I empathized, sympathized, and was frustrated with him all at the same time, haha. The film is charged with emotion and will have you laughing, cringing, and maybe some tearing, ha. Don't expect simple solutions or a feel-good ending; The Wrestler is rooted in real life conditions and human weakness.

And i finally get to goto bed.. GOOD MORNING!
