Movie Review: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Worst Film i've ever seen...

Let me start off by saying, Brad Pitt is one of my favorite actors. But after watching this three hour long film with no apparent plot line and lack of ideal premise. Wow, man starts off old then dies at days old. The film could of saved itself by shortening it to an hour, possibly an hour and a half. But no, nearly three hours of predictable nonsense about a boring and backwards story of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) being born at age 80? and dying at infancy.
The film is based in the advancing times of New Orleans, Louisiana. A new born Ben Button's mother died giving birth to the wrinkly arthritic infant. And the father in fear of the "devil child" abandons Benjamin at a nursing home, to where Benjamin is raised by a African-American woman named Queenie (Taraji P. Henson) whom Ben considers his mother. And the story bores with his struggle of a backwards life all narrated by a dying woman (the love of Benjamin's life played by Cate Blanchett) telling the story to her daughter of her estranged father.
But this mearly simple and idiotic film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" rips the actual story apart and created a foolish and lame annoying overdrawn movie with no real depth, character, or even plot. It's a circle of life of a story that should of been left a book. Worst film i've ever seen in my life! i'd rather watch Disaster movie, or Another Gay Movie than watch that crap ever again....

Movie Review: Religulous

Intriguing film that will bring up Questions.

Bill Maher's documentary Religulous dwells deep into the context of religion, the bible, and ideals of life's meaning and a "higher power". It will quickly bring you to question what faith really means to you and if what you believe honestly makes anysense. Bill Maher, assumed a simple comedian shows his true nature to question life and religion. He allows you to think hard about the choices we make and the resons we make them. In a strange sense this film brings to surface things about relgion's true past that very few minds have ever had the opportunity to learn.
The film doesnt neccessarily "attack" religion, it's really more of a "really?" type of documentary. And sort of bash's religious nuts who devote their lives to fairy tale beliefs. Maher in his own words says, belieiving in the bible is no different than believing Star Treck, comic books, bambi or even the lion king.
The film is rather good, and worth seeing once, maybe even twice to catch things you might of missed. A must see for all people. It really will bring to surface the questions we don't know how to ask.

A must see. The best documentary i've seen in years.

Movie Review: Watchmen

The Watchmen...Shocked and appalled...

The most seemingly anticipated movie of the year released last night March 6, 2009. The Watchmen, directed by Zack Snyder and inspired by the legendary cult classic graphic novel. A movie surrounded by an absolutely enormous hype in the works of nearly 20 years. The hyper began with a trailer that premiered in middle 2008, got fanboys and movie lovers round the world shaking in their seats with anticipation. Questions rounding from, can it live up to the novel? Could it be as good as the trailer? Could Snyder produce another masterpiece to contend with 300? Or will this movie just bomb....?
Well ladies and gentleman, I'm here today to tell you that The Watchmen was a 3 hour long story following the tight script trying to keep truthful to a worshiped Comic book. A story of vigilante masked heroes "defending the world", being targeted by an unknown source. The film begins full forced, and quickly dies down into a mellow drama of love, idiots, and a devilishly awesome character named Rorshack. It's a shame this movie quickly turned into an overdrawn light action dull super hero movie. It has failed me a comic book lover, and i predict millions of more fans round the nation. The movie was surrounded by too much hype and couldn't possibley live up to it's rage. So ladies and gentleman, i tell you, Watchmen is no where as good as it could of been. Just wait, and stop giving them money by buying theater tickets. RENT IT, when it's released to DVD. And make sure you have three hours to kill of utter dissapointment before viewing this movie. *sigh*

Movie Review: Slumdog Millionaire

Wow. What else can i say but Amazing?

Slumdog Millionaire is a film based from Vikas Swarup's acclaimed novel Q & A, staring the new age actors of Bollywood; Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, Madhur Mittal, the oh so beautiful Freida Pinto, and many a indian child living a dream in a gorgeous romantic picture. Directed by Danny Boyle and co-directed by Loveleen Tandan. But let's not forget the absolutely brilliant A.R. Rahman's music giving each scene more passion and intensity than ever thought possible into one film.
The film is a Dramatic Romance, with a sprinkle of comedy, about a boy Jamal Malik's (Dev Patel) and his elder brother Salim Malik (Madhur Mittal) struggle with life in the slums, and injection to a world with no parents and gauranteed home. The film flashes back from Jamal's situation in the present on India's version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and being questioned by police for suspicions of cheating the gameshow, to his uprising of childhood while hustling to survive, to his young adulthood and search for his dream girl Latika (Freida Pinto). Of Course with such a movie there's plenty of drama and desperation before an ideal ending. Slumdog keeps you so far on the edge of the seat you'll fall off atleast three times from the anticipation alone. I Don't know if i've ever seen a movie that ever fit together as well as Slumdog. But in a simple sentence to describe this movie, FU***** Brilliant! Masterpeice! Best movie of 2008. And true unnanimous decision for the Academy Award Best Picture of The Year. A Must buy on March 31, 2009 when released to DVD. Or go see it in theaters now while it's still available Nationwide in the U.S.

Film review: Yes Man

One hundred fifty-five minutes of comedy on low-key mode. Unlike many of Jim Carrey films in the 90s, the humor and his acting are not loose cannons nor cranked up in absurdity, though the two are not negative traits mind you. This feel good comedy could even appeal to those who prefer his films to be over the top. The romantic-comedy parts of the movie is quite adorable and very effective. Its quirky nature enriches those parts and ultimately the film as a whole. It helps that Zooey Deschanel holds her own pretty dang well. As opposed to some of the female actors in the past who teamed up with Carrey, they seem out of place in over the top environments (Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Rene Zellweger, etc). "Yes Man" is an excellent alternative to the serious award contenders. It's certainly worth seeing as a matinee or deserving to be queued.. even to non Carrey comedy fans.

Movie Review: Quarantine

Let's just say DECENT.

Quarantine is a 2008 horror movie about a news crew and a group of fireman, policemen, and residents of an old apartment building who are being locked inside the building due to the "rabies/zombie" outbreak from within the walls. and it's just about what you would expect from a horror movie these days. And we've already seen it all, but you can't blame them for trying, again and again and again.... well...let's get to it.... The movie begins with a HQ camera Cloverfield-esq feel, but lacks the grit and intensity within Cloverfield. But the plus side, there's death, raging loonies, blood, old ladies getting shot and "Detective Debra Morgan" (assuming you're all fans of Dexter =D) a.k.a. Jennifer Carpenter. Jay Hernandez also stars, for the ladies eyes. But, the movie did end up being quite a decent horror flick of our generation. All shot with hand held camera and with a spot of mystery that isnt so mysterious. It'll make the ladies scream, and the men laugh for it's raw undenying action and brutal, infected people bashing? haha.
So i say, go rent it, or borrow it from a friend. Enjoy an hour and a half of an uninspiring un-epic-like horror movie, entitled Quarantine.
